Episode 9 - Learning the Bosnian Coffee Process

Episode Description:

  • In this Travel Podcast we go over crossing the land border into Montenegro from Albania and our time learning the history and exploring Podgorica. We tell our stories from our trip to Bosnia and Herzegovina. We explain what we had to go through to get into Bosnia and Herzegovina by land from Montenegro in 2021.

  • We review our time in Mostar, where we spent a week in the city without seeing anyone jumping off of the bridge! We visited the Partisan's Cemetery, the Peace Tower, the Stari Most (Old Bridge), and had the Bosnian Coffee process explained and demonstrated by a local at a cafe at the top of the Stari Most Bridge.

  • We went to Blagaj. This city is known for one particular picture spot that is famous on Instagram but we also wanted to explore more.We not only toured the Dervish House, we also when to the Blagaj Fort; also known as Stjepan-grad.

  • We detail our time in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. We walked around and saw the sights and landmarks of the city. We visited the Baščaršija market, the Gazi Husrev-beg section of town, the Latin Bridge, churches and museums.

We took a trip to Tallahassee to see FSU and FAMU, Carrabelle to see the World's Smallest Police Station, Cape San Blas to see the Donna Kay abandoned ship, and a few other small beach towns! The Panhandle is the northwest part of the state. Georgia is north of Tallahassee, but the rest of the panhandle is surrounded to the north and west by Alabama.

 

Tallahassee is landlocked but so many of the other cities in the Panhandle are right on the Gulf of Mexico. We found the Donna Kay shrimp boat (boat on land), Destin - known as the "World’s luckiest fishing village," the world's smallest police station, and the enchanting beach that is a former best beach in America winner.

What to you is paradise? In this travel vlog episode we found ours! We saw pelicans walking the beach looking for their next meal. We toured the Zona Archaeologica de Tulum where we saw the Temple of the Wind God that was used for religious purposes until as recently as 1924.

 

We had the best waiter at Cinco Tulum where we drank out of coconuts and overlooked the majestic beach. Watch along as we explore the City of Dawn! Episode 2 - Jumping into Cenotes

In this podcast episode we go into full details about Chichen Itza, Valladolid, and visiting some of the cenotes in Mexico. We are able to go deeper into what we could not show you in our vlog from this week.

 

Some of the topics include: 

 

  • A Cenote is a natural pit or sinkhole. They are created when there is a collapse of limestone bedrock that exposes groundwater.

  • Cenote Zací (Cenote Zaci) was a 10 minute walk from our hotel. This cenote is only half covered which allows tons of sunlight in. We even took turns diving off of a cliff into the water!

  • We also visited the "Blue Cave" Cenote Xkeken (meaning "pig" in Mayan) and Cenote Samulá (Cenote Samula). They share a parking area and have passes that can be combined together.

  • Back in the city center of Valladolid we hung out at Parque Principal Francisco Canton Rosado. We enjoyed delicious marquesitas, sat in the 2 seater benches, and enjoyed the view of the Church of Saint Servatius (Iglesia de San Servacio). We also saw the fountain of “La Mestiza” (mixed race woman).

  • Then we figured out a way to visit Chichen Itza when it was not too busy in order to have this amazing ancient city almost completely to ourselves before the large crowds came in. We tell you all about traveling to Chichén Itzá; one of the Seven Wonders of the World.
